Wētā FX is now taking applications from Animators for a number of exciting TV and Feature Film projects opening up in 2022, including the Avatar Sequels.

We are hiring Animators for both remote and NZ Based roles.

There are now a number of specific roles listed for which we are seeking exemptions to permit non-resident crew to enter, live & work in New Zealand. We are also considering applications from remote Animators based and legal to work in New Zealand, Australia, the West Coast of North America, UK, Europe and Asia only. Please note some restrictions may apply.

Our Animation Department consists of 100 super talented artists who are working on a variety of exciting film and episodic projects. If you have strong creature or character animation skills, we would love to hear from you!

Our successful Animators will have:

• Three years animation experience in Visual Effects Animation on feature films.
• Real world experience or animation course training.
• The ability to deliver animation solutions for shot specific problems relating to Body animation, Facial animation, Camera animation, Previs animation and a good working knowledge of Mocap.
• Demonstrable understanding of mechanics, timing, physics, composition, cameras and staging.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Maya experience.

Bonus skills:

• Previs experience
• A solid foundation in realistic facial animation
• Experience working with motion capture in animation production
