Weta Digital is an industry-leading, award-winning visual effects and animation facility based in Wellington, New Zealand. Supporting a crew of 1500, the IT team are responsible for the HTC infrastructure that has helped deliver many iconic films, such as Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and the more recent Planet of the Apes trilogy.

We’re looking to expand our IT Support team. This is a junior/entry-level opportunity for IT-literate candidates who enjoy assisting others and are interested in progressing within the industry.

The Support department are a team of talented IT generalists, ensuring our cross-platform environment is enabling our artists to do their best work. The work is fast-paced, interesting and diverse, and the team culture is friendly, inclusive and service-orientated.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Computer and audio-visual conference room set-ups
  • Software/hardware installations and upgrades
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records
  • Assisting the Support Technical Engineers with their duties, including:
    • End user technical support
    • Troubleshooting and problem solving, often in collaboration with other departments
    • IT project work
    • Working towards becoming a Support Technical Engineer yourself!

You are skilled at customer service, a brilliant communicator (both written and oral), can function well as part of a team and under pressure, and most of all, love to keep learning and progressing.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Understanding and familiarity with computer hardware and peripherals, operating systems and applications
    • Familiarity with Linux (or any other UNIX) is very useful; we also use Mac OSX and Windows
  • Personable, a team player, likes working with and helping people - IT support or other customer service experience desirable
  • Organised, efficient, communicative, helpful
  • Willingness to do fully-paid shift work and variable hours (40-50 per week; our coverage hours can increase at busy times, however shifts are carefully managed)

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Information Technology qualification or equivalent experience
  • Customer service education or experience

This position is a great opportunity for a recent IT graduate or someone with a demonstrated interest in computing
