Los Angeles Based VFX Coordinator

We have a fantastic opportunity for a coordinator to Join Weta Digital’s LA team for an initial 1 year contract.

The production coordinator provides a high level of administrative support to Weta LA’s production teams, assisting with the management of crew schedules, targeted project deliveries and crew support. You must be comfortable dealing with all levels of the production.

Being able to use your initiative, be self-motivated and adapt to change will be critical to your success in this role. Our ideal coordinator is capable of leading teams with enthusiasm, highly organized and able to juggle various priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and personable demeanor. You’ll be a confident and clear communicator, have excellent interpersonal and time-keeping skills and be able to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise.

Your key responsibilities will include -

  • Support Weta's LA Production Manager, Lighting Team and Head of Animation.
  • Take notes in dailies and reviews throughout the day and distribute notes to artists in a timely manner.
  • Work with the client to confirm correct material needed for artist assignment packages and update artists when new information is provided (continuously track down updates.)
  • Track and maintain all scene and shot lighting in databases.
  • Gather ETAs and convey to client. Distribute lighting deliveries to client.
  • Build a new, robust database for all lighting tasks.
  • Attend all calls with and support Lighting Lead - enquiring with client on any questions regarding scenes / shots being lit.
  • Regularly check in with the crew on workload and wellbeing / morale.
  • Maintain and set up meetings.
  • Support VFX Supe as needed with scheduling meetings, confirming attendance etc.

Preferred skills -

  • Previous knowledge of VFX pipelines both in production and post-production.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in VFX
  • Knowledge of Shotgun, Filemaker, Excel, Linux and Word.
