LOOKDEV

We will have Senior crew from our Look-Dev department attending Siggraph. We are interested in speaking to suitable candidates for roles currently open and also for roles that may open up in the future. We are keen to meet crew across the range from artists, seniors, to leadership positions relevant to LookDev: Textures, Shaders & Look-Dev R&D.

The Look-Development group at Weta is comprised of the Texture, Shader & Look-Dev R&D departments which together define the appearance of the many creatures, characters, environments and phenomena across a multitude of projects. The group is home to a myriad of talents and skill sets ranging from artists, technical directors, problem solvers, developers and researchers all focused on delivering the best imagery possible given an ever changing landscape of challenges.

ASSETS R&D

We will have Senior crew from our Assets R&D department attending Siggraph. We are interested in speaking to suitable candidates for roles currently open and also for roles that may open up in the future.

Assets R&D Roles currently open:

  • Asset pipeline Technical Director

The primary responsibilities of an Assets Pipeline Technical Director are the design, development, maintenance and support of the core pipeline and related applications that are used by those departments. The candidate should have highly developed technical skills, with an understanding and focus on elegant artist workflows and infrastructure efficiency.

SHOTS - FX

We will have Senior crew from our Shots department attending Siggraph. We are interested in speaking to suitable candidates for roles currently open and also for roles that may open up in the future.

Our FX team comprises of more than 60 of the world's leading FX TDs. Collectively they help to solve a diverse variety of VFX problems in close partnership with other department teams. FX is an integral team for Weta and our RND efforts, pipeline and systems continue to adapt to the increasing focus on FX driven VFX.

TECHNOLOGY & RESEARCH - SOFTWARE & PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

We will have Senior crew from both our Software & Production Engineering departments attending Siggraph.

Production Engineering designs, develops and maintains core pipeline applications and services used by departments throughout the company.

Production Engineering Roles currently open:

  • Senior Python Developer
  • Senior C++ Developer

The Software Engineering Department creates, develops and maintains tools for pipeline, procedural modelling and dressing, realtime rendering, 2D imaging, animation and VR. We aim to keep quality of Weta Digital’s products to the highest level also ensuring quantity and continuity in the production pipeline, easing users workflows and speeding up processes.

  • Senior Build Engineer

RENDERING AND SIMULATION

We will have Senior crew from both our Rendering and Simulation departments attending Siggraph.

The Rendering Department at Weta Digital is building advanced production rendering technology for high-quality final frame rendering, as well as consistent and interactive visualisation.

Rendering Roles currently open:

  • Real-Time Rendering Researcher
  • Rendering Researcher
  • Compiler Engineer

Our Simulation team are interested in speaking to software engineers and researchers that are interested in helping to develop and support a large suite of proprietary tools for the simulation of visual effects like fire, water, plants, hair, cloth, muscles, etc.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

We will have senior crew from our Information Technology Team attending Siggraph. We are interested in speaking to suitable candidates for roles currently open and also for roles that may open up in the future, in the areas of development and implementation, or delivery and operations.

Our Information Systems team is comprised of Full Stack Developers, Shotgun Production Consultants and Project Managers. Collectively they build, implement and manage the Production Tracking tools at Weta such as Shotgun and many complimentary bespoke tools integrated heavily with the R&D pipeline.

Information Technology roles currently open:

  • Shotgun Production Consultant

The Shotgun Production Consultant provides production tracking workflow and process to meet the needs of the Weta Digital Production Department. Working closely with Central Production and Production Crew to provide cohesive, efficient and intuitive production tracking for all show workflows across all departments. Providing expertise and advise on all production tracking initiatives. Running focus groups, gathering requirements and analysing workflows to produce high quality solutions that empower and support Production Crew to do their jobs as best they can. Working with Developers, Project Managers and other crew to see these implementations through to completion.

We are interesting in meeting with people with VFX Production experience and/or VFX Production Tracking implementation experience
