Senior Business & Systems Analyst

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world-class visual effects company as an experienced business systems analyst; your focus will be to help the business implement and integrate systems for a new ERP system, with a demonstrated understanding of business processes and enterprise level software. This opportunity will suit a very technically minded analyst with strong application and business process analysis skills, and SDLC, integration and system replacement and retirement experience.

You will lead and work on technical requirements gathering and analysis of current and future systems, and have proven ability to gather and interpret information, deal with challenges creatively and collaboratively find solutions. You will be flexible and possess a willingness to contribute to the team's success in a variety of capacities.

This role is reporting to the IT PMO who manages programmes and projects across key business systems over a variety of platforms. Your passion for quality work and dedication to learning, growing, and thriving will make you one of Wētā FX’s subject matter experts.

This role will be a 12-month fixed-term employment contract, based at the Wētā FX facilities in Miramar, New Zealand.

Ideal Skills & Experience:

  • 4-5+ years of hands-on experience working as a technical business analyst or similar role in complex, large scale IT environment
  • Ability to working with business and technical teams to ensure all stakeholder needs are addressed and understood
  • Strong analytical skills—ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Able to develop technical user stories, ensuring they are well-defined, structured, and aligned with configuration and development standards
  • Able to work closely with product owners, developers, and architects to translate business needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements
  • Work with architctect and engineering teams on integration specifications, data schemas, and system integrations across a wide range of cloud and on-prem bespoke solutions
  • Ability to work to deadlines whilst prioritising systems integrity and customer satisfaction
  • Resilience and the ability to embrace and support change
  • Relationship-building across and outside the business; experience working with and influencing a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to lead focus groups, facilitate workshops, agile ceremonies and work 1 on 1 with subject matter experts
  • Supporting testing activities and defect triage with appropriate teams
  • Creating and contributing to operational and reporting collateral
  • In-depth understanding of Software Development Lifecycle methodologies i.e. Waterfall, Agile (Kanban, Scrum), Hybrid
  • Proficient with JIRA/Confluence and other reporting and collaboration software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to communicate details in simple, clear language.

You may also have these Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Kanban Facilitator or Scrum Master
  • Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence and Reporting experience
  • Experience with platforms such as Azure DevOps
  • Production VFX or Film background preferred but not essential. More importantly, you'll have proven experience within your field.
