Hub Talent & Culture Manager - Melbourne

We're looking for dynamic people partner at the heart of our Melbourne Studio.

Are you a trusted people advisor who thrives in fast‑moving, creative environments? Do you bring sound judgement, warmth, and a practical approach to complex people matters?

Wētā FX is looking for an experienced Hub Talent & Culture Manager to support our Melbourne studio, partnering closely with the Head of Studio, production, and leaders to enable a high‑performing, compliant, and engaged crew experience that supports effective delivery.

This is a senior, hands on individual contributor role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, coaching leaders, managing employment risk, and bringing people practices to life locally. You will balance strategic intent with practical execution, contributing people insight into workforce planning, crewing, utilisation, and change in support of production and operational effectiveness.

You’ll help ensure leaders can deliver complex, creative work with the right people, in the right place, at the right time, within legal and cultural frameworks, without owning delivery accountability.

What you will do

  • Act as a trusted people partner to studio leadership, production, and department heads, providing sound advice across the full employee lifecycle
  • Coach and support leaders through complex and sensitive people matters, including performance, conduct, and employment risk
  • Provide expert guidance on Australian employment legislation, ER matters, and compliance, ensuring risk is managed thoughtfully and consistently
  • Contribute people insight into workforce planning, crewing, utilisation, and change to support production and operational effectiveness
  • Partner closely with production teams to support delivery while maintaining strong people practices and a positive crew experience
  • Bring Wētā FX people practices to life in the Melbourne studio, ensuring they are applied in a practical, locally relevant way
  • Support leaders to deliver creative, complex work with the right people, in the right place, at the right time, within legal and cultural frameworks

You will bring:

  • Senior HR generalist experience in complex, fast‑paced environments
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and ER practice
  • Confidence handling sensitive, high‑risk matters with care and judgement
  • A pragmatic, solutions‑focused, people‑centred approach
  • Experience partnering closely with operational or production-led teams in delivery-driven environments

At Wētā FX we celebrate our diversity and believe in creating an environment where all our crew feel welcomed, respected, supported and appreciated. We define ourselves by the quality of our work, and we’re striving to build a workplace experience that’s second to none. Here at Wētā FX we value open minds and encourage our crew to be themselves.

We aim to provide a discrimination-free experience, beginning from the moment you apply for a role with us. If there is anything we can do to make the recruitment process easier, please let us know at recruitment@wetafx.co.nz.

If you are interested in joining the Wētā FX team we'd love to hear from you!
